ADAS Recalibration
Advanced driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) Recalibration involves the car’s sensors and cameras to work efficiently together. It is the process of tweaking a vehicle’s sensors and cameras following repairs, such as windshield replacement. ADAS technologies include lane departure warning, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, and forward collision warning, which are safety features integrated into modern vehicles.
ADAS calibration is crucial to ensure the car’s safety so it can provide accurate warnings and interventions.
When ADAS Recalibration is Necessary
- After windshield replacement: manufacturers make ADAS recalibration mandatory after windshield replacement. The system sensors are incorporated into the windshield, and if they are removed or disturbed during the replacement process, they need to be recalibrated to ensure correct operation.
- Following an accident: In case of any accident, the car’s ADAS system could be disturbed or disconnected and it is important to get it checked.
- Changes to wheel alignment or suspension: Any changes in tire positioning or suspension disrupt the ADAS system and a recalibration becomes necessary.
Benefits of Proper ADAS Recalibration
- Ensures optimal system functionality: Consider your vehicle to be an ensemble of sensors, cameras, and intelligent systems that work together in perfect harmony. ADAS system brings innovation to the overall car experience. It elevates convenience and car safety to the next level.
- Prevents accidents by accurately detecting hazards: Lane-keeping assistance and automatic emergency braking accurately detect hazards and decrease the chances of accidents. Proper ADAS recalibration ensures the prevention of car crashes.
- Maintains manufacturer safety standards: ADAS systems are preinstalled in all modern vehicles and in case of any accident or windshield repair, it is a requirement to get your ADAS recalibration. This guarantees that system sensors and cameras are working properly.
Why Choose Us for ADAS Recalibration?
Our Recalibration Process
There are two types of Recalibration process and we perform each one depending on the car’s needs.
- Static Recalibration: This process does not require the car to move and is done in a controlled environment where special targets are put on computers and cameras. It takes about an hour to complete and can be done right after windshield repair
- Dynamic Recalibration: When the car is moving around targets, onboard diagnostics are utilized to assess the vehicle under specific conditions. We connect the equipment to your OBD port beneath the dashboard and go through the menus to ensure the camera can recognize certain road markings. The systems interact with one another, and the car computer notifies us when the calibration is successful.
ADAS Recalibration
Lamar performs ADAS recalibration by following these steps:
Check the car model, year, and manufacturer’s specification for recalibration
The vehicle is prepared by removing any dirt from the windshield, tires inflated to the required pressure, and making sure the car is parked on level ground.
The calibration device is connected to the vehicle’s OBD port under the dash.
Sensors are adjusted accordingly by the experts.
ADAS expert will then test the car to ensure its ADAS system is working properly and restore the vehicle to its optimal performance level.
